One of the highlights of the year as a lingerie buyer is to see the cat walk shows at the lingerie trade fairs. It's all well and good scouring the trade press and seeing editorials about developing and current trends within the industry or wandering around the stands of the different manufacturers to see not only whats on offer at each, but what do they have in common and where do they stand apart. This is where a well produced cat walk show comes into its own, particularly where it is broken down into sections that put some of the trends together, showing ranges from different manufacturers that identify the common threads within the industry for the coming season.
It has to said however, that great as this might be, it also needs models who show off the product to its full effect. Some of the manufacturers, Curvy Kate being a prime example, have taken the approach of having 'real women' as models. Most of the manufacturers when it comes to photo shoots for their trade catalogues and adverts, choose models who have curves and will do justice to the lingerie they are looking to promote. This also applies to the models who work on the stands at trade shows, with DD plus models, modelling DD+ bras and so on.
However when it comes to the Cat Walk shows, it has to be said that there is a tendency to use 'Fashion Models', who sadly in the main are lacking the necessary curves, that lingerie models really need. Now I'm not saying that they all need to be DD plus, as many of the smaller cup samples come in a B Cup, but sadly it is an all to common sight, to see obvious use of chicken fillets, gaping bra cups and briefs that look baggy, as the bum to fill them is sometimes missing.
Fashion models unfortunately still have that certain look, which clothes manufacturers may feel show off their products to best effect, but they do not represent the ordinary woman in the street and the reality is that when it comes to lingerie and swimwear, models need to a completely different profile. So to all you model agents up and down the country, when it comes to lingerie and swimwear shows, can you make sure that the models who are put forward have the necessary figures to carry lingerie to its best effect and lets move away from the size zero or is size zero and a half that we now appear to have.

I like girls but without lingerie.
So be sure to get some clothing that sends the right message across.
